I am in no way an art critic. But I know what I like. So I decided to highlight some pig art that’s up on the web.

In the latest edition of Pig Paintings Appreciated, I take a look at the painting above entitled “Study of a Pig” by Paul Doyle.

Now there is something about this pig and I can’t quite put my finger on it. It seems distant and wanting. There’s definitely a deep-seated desire in the eyes. It’s saying “why did you leave me” and “will I ever see you again”. Maybe this is a cathartic painting done after the Family Ties opening credits. Maybe it is just a simple pig painting. I think not. The gray canvas stirs even more uncertainty and emotional unrest. Looking at this painting prompts more questions than answers. Who are you pig? What are you all about?
