I don’t care if this song was covered in the ending credits of the 40 Year Old Virgin. If you’re hard and you think this jam is corny or lame or whatever, then you just don’t know the good stuff. The best part of this track is the patience one needs to employ at the beginning - trippy lyrics, acoustic guitars, strings, and those harmonies. Oh how I love those harmonies. “Aquarius” is just the beginning because all hell breaks loose on “Let the Sunshine In”. Ah, that bassline. Pure heart. I lose my voice every time I sing this one.
I played this at the last Fatback, but had not planned on it. One of our dancing pros, Grace, approached me and whispered that it was her birthday. The one song she had to hear on her birthday was “Age of Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In”. I didn’t want to disappoint. Especially not Grace. Birthday wishes do come true with a little help from The 5th Dimension.
